Job description

Job Description

Global Manufacturing Electrical & SDV is looking for innovators who are passionate about tackling meaningful work that will shape the future of the automotive industry. While there will be long days and challenges that push you to grow, you'll find purpose in your work, flexibility to prioritize your family, and the support of a people-first culture. If you're ready to grow, thrive, and make an impact, we'd love to hear from you.

WHY:

Define and advance the strategy, standards, and deployment of in-process electrical test systems across GM manufacturing-improving early defect detection and enabling scalable, high-quality production for increasingly complex, software-defined vehicles.

WHAT:

Serve as the subject matter expert for in-process electrical test systems, including continuity testing and related equipment. Lead equipment requirements, validation strategies, technical standards, and deployment planning while partnering with plants, program teams, software, and suppliers to enable effective and scalable test solutions.

HOW:

Provide technical leadership across manufacturing, engineering, and plant teams-defining standards, guiding solution development, and enabling successful deployment of electrical test systems through clear direction, practical rollout strategies, and continuous improvement based on plant feedback.

This role is best for engineers with experience in electrical test systems, manufacturing equipment, or validation who enjoy defining standards, improving processes, and driving scalable solutions across multiple manufacturing sites.

Work Arrangement - Onsite

The successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center on a full-time basis. This role requires up to 25% domestic and international travel.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Lead the strategy, standards, and rollout of in-process electrical test systems across GM manufacturing sites
  • Define equipment requirements, Process Control Plans, standardized work, and technical documentation to enable consistent and repeatable plant execution
  • Drive the roadmap and continuous improvement of electrical test systems (e.g., continuity testing, in-house solutions), including validation and deployment planning
  • Partner with plants, program teams, and engineering to drive technical alignment, resolve issues, and ensure readiness for current and future test strategies
  • Drive standardization of electrical test equipment and processes across plants to improve quality and execution consistency
  • Identify gaps in existing testing approaches and lead improvements to increase defect detection, reliability, and efficiency
  • Support manufacturing planning activities and communicate changes impacting plant readiness, alignment, and execution

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Strong technical experience in automotive manufacturing, electrical test systems, manufacturing equipment, or related hardware/validation environments
  • Experience leading complex issue resolution in a plant or manufacturing setting
  • Experience defining technical standards, equipment requirements, process controls, or validation strategies
  • Proven ability to lead technical work across multiple functions without direct authority
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to diverse audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across plants, programs, and strategic initiatives
  • Experience working with suppliers, plant teams, and cross-functional engineering partners to implement solutions
  • Willingness to travel as required to support plant execution and deployment

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Hands-on experience with in-process electrical test systems (e.g., continuity testing, charge-port testing, or similar manufacturing equipment)
  • Experience with Process Control Plans, standardized work, and technical documentation development
  • Experience supporting product or process validation across manufacturing milestones
  • Experience with cost reduction, in-house hardware development, or manufacturing innovation initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to drive standardization and read-across across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Experience developing training or enabling plant teams through documentation and coaching
This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
