What are Test and Balance Engineers?

Test and Balance Engineers are professionals who specialize in evaluating, adjusting, and optimizing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure they operate efficiently and according to design specifications. Their main responsibilities include measuring airflow, water flow, and system pressures, and then making adjustments to balance the system for peak performance. These engineers play a critical role in ensuring indoor air quality and energy efficiency in commercial and residential buildings. They often work closely with contractors, building owners, and other engineers throughout new construction or renovation projects.

What are some typical challenges a Test and Balance Engineer might face during a project?

Test and Balance Engineers often encounter challenges such as incomplete or inaccurate mechanical drawings, unexpected site conditions, and tight project deadlines.
