Job description

What to Expect We are seeking a Mechanical Fabrication Coordinator to serve as the pivotal link between our infrastructure design team, engineering, construction, and fabricators. The role focuses on translating detailed 3D mechanical models into constructible shop-drawing packages using the cloud-based platform Stratus Build. This role will break down large scopes into logical assemblies, spool drawings, and deliverable packages, then track progress to meet scheduled milestones.
What You'll Do
  • Model Translation & Packaging - Import detailed mechanical models from the design team into Stratus Build (or similar). Decompose projects into smaller, constructible packages, assemblies, and spool drawings. Ensure each package is logically organized for fabrication and installation
  • Coordination & Communication - Act as the primary liaison among design, engineering, construction, fabricators, and pipe-fitters. Communicate scope changes, design clarifications, and schedule updates promptly
  • Shop-Drawing Management - Oversee the creation, review, and hand-over of shop drawings. Verify that drawings meet constructability, code, and client requirements. Maintain a clear audit trail of revisions and approvals within Stratus Build
  • Tracking & Reporting - Utilize Stratus Build's tracking functions to monitor progress against deliverable dates. Generate status reports, highlight risks, and propose corrective actions. Ensure all deliverables are uploaded, indexed, and accessible to the construction team
  • Process Improvement - Identify bottlenecks in the design-to-fabrication-to-construction workflow. Recommend and implement best-practice procedures for package breakdown and hand-over. Support continuous improvement initiatives across the mechanical discipline

What You'll Bring
  • Degree or certificate in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and process piping systems, including fabrication and installation methods
  • Hands-on field experience (e.g., working on-site with pipe-fitters, fabricators, or construction crews)
  • Proficiency with Revit or other BIM tools strongly encouraged. Experience using Stratus Build or similar cloud-based construction coordination platforms recommended
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical models and translate them into constructible packages
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • Familiarity with procurement, fabrication, construction, testing, and commissioning processes
