Our mission is to ensure memories are delivered one piece of furniture at a time, on time, every time. We are looking for individuals experienced in logistics and transportation to add to our team who will contribute to achieving our mission.
Job Summary:
This person is responsible for leading and developing associates with a focus on motivating, mentoring, and coaching. (S)he is accountable for engaging their team to maintain the highest levels of safety, quality, attendance, and performance. The person in this role will need to be able to show strong leadership, the ability to address budgetary objectives and the desire to equip their team with the tools needed for success. The Terminal Manager will ensure that daily departmental goals are met to achieve established objectives in Safety, Service, Quality, and Cost.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Guide and direct hourly associates to meet or exceed operational goals. Monitor performance and provide coaching, mentoring, and employees development.
  • Manage, direct, and recruit independent contractors
  • Focus on Independent Contractor Partnerships (Profitability & Compliance)
  • Leverage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to make ongoing improvements and enhancements.
  • Take ownership of hub inbound and outbound operations including: Staging, deluxing, repairing, returns and claims. Ensure audits take place for all orders for following days deliveries
  • Accountable for maintaining on-time shipments, people utilization and damage. Provide periodic reports and ensure accurate communication to all employees
  • Communicate policies to associates and act as the primary information source for the team. Maintain compliance, operational consistency and take corrective action when needed
  • Ensure world class service for internal/external customers
  • Maintain health and safety standards as well as promote a positive health and safety culture within the organization
  • Weekly ride behinds in field with teams to ensure client satisfaction and training
  • Actively route monitor teams from the road
  • Direct and oversee job assignments. Plan daily, weekly, monthly, and peak season labor schedules.
  • Achieve financial plans and budget objectives
  • Actively promote and live Metropolitan's mission, vision, company values and leadership principles

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred

Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of relevant distribution management/leadership experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of Final Mile/Last Mile delivery management experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing freight flow
  • Experience managing, recruiting, and working with independent contractors
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively (written & verbal), with excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills
  • Highly organized and process orientated
  • Experience working with furniture preferred
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Ability to lead large groups of individuals in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience
  • Basic quantitative/financial analysis skills
  • Exemplifies strong ownership over projects from start to finish
  • Cross-functional collaboration

Physical Requirements:
  • The Terminal Manager role may involve physical activities such as walking, standing, and occasionally lifting and carrying objects up to a certain weight
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Pushing and Pulling: Ability to push and pull wheeled carts or pallet jacks loaded with merchandise
  • Bending, Stooping, and Reaching: Ability to bend, stoop, and reach overhead frequently
  • Physical Stamina: Demonstrate physical stamina and endurance to perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and manipulate small parts or delicate items with precision
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends when necessary to address urgent operational needs
