Job description

Lead Safe, Efficient Rail Operations at a Major Automotive Distribution Terminal

A growing rail-served automotive logistics operation in Central Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Railroad Supervisor to oversee daily switching activities, crew performance, and safe rail operations within a high-volume terminal environment.

This leadership position is ideal for railroad professionals with experience in yard operations, train service, terminal management, or transportation supervision who are ready to take the next step in their careers.

What Success Looks Like In This Role

  • Supervise daily railroad operations and switching activities.
  • Ensure compliance with railroad operating rules, FRA regulations, and company safety standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop operating crews.
  • Conduct safety meetings, observations, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate train movements and terminal activities to maximize efficiency and service.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Maintain operational records, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Support staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning initiatives.

What We Look For

  • Experience in railroad operations, switching, yard service, transportation, or terminal operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of railroad safety practices and operating procedures.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operating outdoor environment.

Preferred

  • Experience as a Trainmaster, Assistant Trainmaster, Yardmaster, Lead Conductor, or Rail Operations Supervisor.
  • Knowledge of FRA regulations and railroad compliance requirements.
  • Experience in automotive, intermodal, or terminal operations.
  • Military transportation or logistics leadership experience.
