High school diploma or equivalent, one year of groundskeeping experience, and possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.

The University of South Alabama's Grounds department is seeking to hire an Athletic Field Technician I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
  • Assists in performing maintenance on athletic fields and facilities to include mowing, edging, raking, weed eating, and trimming and other tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Assists in the preparation of playing surfaces.
  • Operates equipment such as tractor, riding lawn mower to include reel-type multiple-gang equipment, line trimmer, blower, edger, spreader, sprayer, and other equipment required for proper field maintenance.
  • Assists in maintaining equipment and tools.
  • Assists in keeping facilities clean.
  • Under the direction of the supervisor, paints playing fields according to sport specifications.
  • Moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Works related events which will require nights and weekends.
  • Uses a university vehicle to travel to and from work sites.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional overtime hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
