Job description

Summary
This role provides support for all pharmacy order entry systems, inventory systems, financials within EPIC, and dispensing / packaging applications at MyMichigan Health. Applications supported include but are not limited to: Robot Rx, PacMed, Omnicell, and EPIC.
Responsibilities
(30%)* Oversees database maintenance of pharmacy dispensing / packaging hardware and software applications. This includes the addition/deletion of user accounts and items, and optimizing the use of automation capabilities.
(20%)* Responsible for technical implementation and maintenance of the above hardware / software. Gathers pricing information for new applications as needed.
(20%)* Trains all pharmacy staff (including pharmacists, technicians, and interns) on the above pharmacy hardware / software, and assists with maintaining competency.
(20%)* Responsible for software / hardware trouble-shooting for all sites, provides guidance for planned and unexpected Downtime.
(10%)* Monitors, troubleshoots, and resolves pharmacy-specific billing issues that occur due to interface errors.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
May be asked to assist in special projects related to the essential duties and responsibilities (as approved by supervisor) such as kit maintenance, workflow improvement, and other requests.
May be asked to respond to pharmacy billing audit requests (such as from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), commercial insurances, and patient requests) by providing requested data and making corrections as needed.

Credential:PHARM TECH: Pharmacy Technician Licensure
Equivalent Experience: New hires and transfers before October 1, 2015 must possess a full technician license or limited pharmacy license through the state of Michigan. Effective October 1, 2015, all incumbents, new hires and transfers to this position must possess a pharmacy technician temporary, limited, or full license through the state of Michigan. Individuals with a temporary license must obtain a full license through the state of Michigan within 365 days of obtaining the temporary license.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
  • Hospital or Medical Center pharmacy experience required.
  • Extensive working knowledge of pharmacy information systems, financial systems, inventory systems, dispensing applications / hardware, reporting tools, office applications.
  • Mathematical skills needed to complete simple calculations as required by the position. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
  • Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
  • Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
  • Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
  • Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
  • Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
  • Physical Demand Level: Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
