Description

The Carter Center is seeking a temporary Program Assistant to support the Conflict Resolution Program's Strengthening Trust and Resilience (STAR) cross-partisan initiative to foster confidence around elections and prevent potential political violence in the U.S. The Temporary Program Assistant will support the growth, coordination, outreach, planning, and implementation of the Carter Center-supported Democracy Resilience Networks (DRN).

Supervised by the CRP Senior Associate Director, and in collaboration with other CRP staff, the Temporary Program Assistant primary responsibilities will be to support administration, coordination, reporting, and outreach of the STAR initiative. Main activities will include research, drafting of project materials including tool kits and web page(s), youth outreach, support to planning, administration, coordination and implementation activities, web-site support (WordPress), and contact management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support CRP/STAR staff and DRN leadership in DRN network maintenance and growth. 
  • Drafting project materials to support the recruitment and participation of prospective DRN members.
  • Organizing regular DRN meetings, including drafting agendas and minutes.   
  • Managing network lists and membership inquiries.
  • Arranging individual and group meetings and presentations (virtual and in-person).
  • Developing communications content for STAR, including correspondence, social media and web copy, presentations, proposals, and activity reports. Knowledge of WordPress or the ability to learn WordPress is required.
  • Conducting research and monitoring on media and data trends related to electoral and political violence.
  • Providing administrative and logistical support to STAR staff and DRN leadership including data entry, note taking, report drafting, and workplan management. 
  • Other related activities as required. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree, or a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of administrative experience.
  • Proficiency with various personal computer software applications.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer  NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to The Carter Center on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines. All non-exempt employees must reside within the state of Georgia.
