Job Summary
Please note: this role is for a contract term and reports on-site to our client's office in Santa Monica, CA.
The Video Editor is responsible for providing both editorial execution and creative producing oversight for video productions within a client's Global Studio Services team. This role independently drives creative and editorial decisions from concept through delivery, then collaborates with producers and stakeholders to align on direction, gather feedback, and obtain approval.
What You'll Do:
  • Independently develop editorial vision and creative direction for assigned projects, including story structure, pacing, tone, music selection, and visual approach, prior to presenting to producers and stakeholders for review and alignment.
  • Build and present creative treatments, paper edits, and editorial frameworks to the team, articulating the intended direction and rationale to gain collaborative buy-in before proceeding.
  • Edit short- and mid-form content across formats such as social videos, promos, product videos, and internal communications from stringout/assembly through final delivery.
  • Shape cuts at each stage; rough cut, fine cut, and finishing handoff, applying independent editorial judgment around pacing, selects, performance, music, and visual clarity.
  • Serve as the creative lead on assigned productions, partnering with producers to develop production timelines, flag creative risks early, and ensure all stakeholders are aligned on direction.
  • Drive the post-production process on projects, including building and maintaining post schedules, coordinating review cycles, and managing delivery timelines in collaboration with the broader team.
  • Provide creative feedback to other editors, vendors, and post partners, contributing to the overall quality and consistency of the team's output.
  • Facilitate stakeholder review sessions, present cut progress with context and intent, incorporate notes thoughtfully, and communicate changes back to the team.
  • Collaborate with motion graphics artists, colorists, sound designers, and other post partners, providing clear creative direction to ensure cohesion across all elements.
  • Perform light finishing tasks as needed, including basic audio cleanup/mixing, temp graphics integration, and export prep.
  • Prepare projects cleanly for review and handoff, maintaining organized timelines, media, naming conventions, and project hygiene.
  • Follow GSS post workflows and ensure content is routed through review, QC, delivery, and archival processes correctly.
  • Keep links, statuses, and project notes current in Jira and related tools so producers and stakeholders have accurate visibility.
  • Stay current on editing styles, creative trends, and platform best practices relevant to marketing and branded content.

What You'll Bring:
  • Strong editorial craft and storytelling instincts, with the ability to independently develop creative direction and translate raw footage, interviews, and mixed media into polished, engaging content.
  • Ability to present creative decisions clearly and confidently to producers and stakeholders, facilitating collaborative review and incorporating feedback constructively.
  • Producer-level understanding of post workflows, schedules, and delivery requirements, with the ability to manage the post process on assigned projects.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and Media Encoder, with comfort working in proxy-based workflows; experience with After Effects is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of post-production fundamentals including ingest, editorial, turnovers, mix, QC, delivery, and archival.
  • Strong understanding of common video formats, codecs, frame rates, exports, and platform-specific delivery requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and stay organized under deadline pressure.
  • Comfortable collaborating with producers, marketers, creative leads, and external post partners while maintaining a solutions-oriented, team-first approach.
  • Strong file organization and project hygiene, with attention to naming, versioning, review links, and handoff documentation.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Frame.io, and project tracking tools such as Jira is a plus.
  • Calm, proactive, solutions-oriented working style; able to absorb feedback, spot issues early, and keep projects on track.

Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience editing video content in a post-production, agency, studio, production company, or in-house environment.
  • Demonstrated experience making independent creative decisions and presenting editorial direction to stakeholders for review and approval.
  • Hands-on experience editing multiple concurrent video projects with overlapping timelines and review cycles.
  • Experience cutting marketing, branded content, social, promo, product, or internal communications video.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating editorial craft, pacing, story sense, and platform-aware creative judgment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a hybrid editor/producer role with responsibility for both creative output and production coordination.
  • Experience supporting channel marketing or content designed for owned, social, digital, and campaign platforms.
  • Familiarity with motion graphics workflows and the ability to integrate or prep graphics packages within editorial.
  • Experience with captioning, subtitling, accessibility, and platform-specific versioning/delivery requirements.
  • Familiarity with client brand standards or marketing/editorial work in tech, media, or streaming.
