The Role:
This is a temporary, contract position through the end of 2026 with the potential to convert to a fulltime role.
We are looking for a Video Editor who can collaborate with a producer or reporter and edit compelling short-form video content optimized for platforms including X and LinkedIn. The ideal candidate has strong editorial instincts and understands platform-native storytelling, with the ability to create business-supporting content that meets TIME's standards.
This person thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, can manage multiple projects simultaneously, and is eager to help shape the future of TIME's video storytelling.
Responsibilities:
  • Edit compelling editorial and sponsored-editorial video content for digital, social, and owned platforms, ensuring high production quality and brand consistency.
  • Assemble and polish footage from studio, remote, and field productions, incorporating voiceover, motion graphics, and archival materials as needed.
  • Optimize videos for multiple platforms and formats, ensuring content aligns with TIME's standards and campaign objectives.
  • Collaborate with editorial, sales, and cross-functional teams to create compelling video content, with a focus on X and LinkedIn, that appeals to audiences and advertisers.
  • Contribute creative ideas for video projects, helping develop engaging, social-first storytelling across a variety of topics and formats.
  • Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously, incorporating feedback while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications:
  • Must possess comprehensive knowledge of Adobe Premiere and a strong working knowledge of Photoshop, After Effects.
  • 2+ years of relevant social-first editing experience.
  • News judgment, reporting scripting, story development are key to this role as well as an ability to collaborate.
  • Knowledge of financial and tech spaces is a plus.
  • Must be able to script, edit, and publish compelling and nuanced video stories with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Ability to set up a studio shoot, camera, audio, lighting, seamless, etc.
  • Willingness to travel for on-location shoots.

Location:
This is a hybrid role. Eligible candidates for the role must be within a commutable distance of TIME's New York City office upon hire and may be expected to be physically present as needed (typically 3 days/week). Other locations may be considered on a case by case basis.
Compensation:
  • Compensation for this contract role will be provided as a weekly rate through a third-party contractor partner, ranging from $1,150 to $1,500 depending on experience.
