Carpenter – VA Medical Center (Dallas, TX)

Pay: $36.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-Time Contract, 1-Year Term

Location: Dallas VA Medical Center, 4500 S. Lancaster Rd, Dallas, TX 75216

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Federal holidays off. No nights, no weekends.

Job Description:

We're hiring skilled Carpenters to support facilities maintenance at the Dallas VA Medical Center. This is steady, daytime work with predictable hours — no weekends, no late nights — supporting the men and women who keep the hospital running for our veterans.

What You'll Do:

  • Alter and install walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, doors, and windows, including trim and finishes throughout hospital buildings
  • Construct drywall partitions and temporary wood structures
  • Install and mortise doors and frames for locks and strike plates
  • Install acoustical ceilings and floor coverings, including carpet
  • Build forms for concrete walks, curbing, and steps
  • Work with Formica, laminate, and paneling
  • Build furniture — tables, cabinets, workbenches
  • Construct and install bulletin boards, cabinets, and shelving
  • Report daily to the VA facility contact for task assignment and progress updates

What You Need:

  • OSHA certification
  • Own PPE: arc-rated or natural fiber long pants and long-sleeve shirt, steel-toed work boots (ANSI Z41.1), hearing and eye protection
  • Ability to pass E-Verify and required federal facility background/access screening
  • Reliable, punctual, able to work independently and coordinate with facility staff
