Job description

Job Summary
This is an hourly position as a research assistant . The research assistant will assist on a project working with Social Sciences faculty and the Dearborn Historical Museum.
Responsibilities*
  • Work with the Dearborn Historical Museum to request records from the city of Dearborn administration
  • Sort through the city's collection of historical photographs
  • Create a finding aid that identifies Arab and Muslim content in collections
  • Sort through the records of past administrations seeking related content
  • Work with the staff of the museum, to provide brief descriptions of documents, images, and other materials
  • This work will be conducted on site at the Dearborn Historical Museum
  • Conduct oral history interviews with some subjects
  • Provide transcripts of interviews
  • Photograph local institutions

Required Qualifications*
The research assistant should be familiar with:
  • Google Drive and Google Sheets
  • Communicating professionally
  • Oral history methodologies
  • Collecting and analysis of archival materials
  • Must have their own transportation
  • Must be a current student

Desired Qualifications*
Prior experience working with archival materials.
