Job description

As we continue to pursue new goals, it's an exciting time to join the Bragg team. We are currently hiring a Rigging Engineer III in our Long Beach, CA branch.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lift Drawings and Analysis: Provide engineered lift drawings showing rigging/lifting components, equipment positions, and clearances. Perform lift analysis and rigging design for daily operations.
  • Staff Support: Support and mentor junior staff with technical reviews.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide guidance to field and estimating departments for handling, lifting, and installing equipment.
  • Equipment Selection: Determine proper lift equipment based on various factors.
  • Specialized Rigging: Apply innovative techniques for specialized rigging challenges.
  • Site Survey: Survey construction sites to identify potential interferences and hazards.
  • Bid Review: Review rigging aspects of jobs with the estimating department.
  • Project Methods: Prepare drawings and explanations for project methods for bid proposals.
  • Purchasing Assistance: Assist in preparing specifications and soliciting quotations for rigging-related needs.
  • Preliminary Planning: Develop preliminary lifting/construction plans for proposals.
  • Field Travel and Oversight: Travel to field construction sites as needed and provide oversight for heavy lift operations.
  • Facility Verification: Ensure client facilities can withstand temporary forces during lifting operations.
  • Plan Reviews: Review and approve subcontracted lifting and rigging plans.
  • Coordination Meetings: Participate in client and internal meetings to communicate design activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering concentration.
  • Professional Certification: Registered Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Rigging Experience: Experience in rigging, below-the-hook, temporary supports design, and analysis.
  • Construction and Procurement: Strong background in construction and procurement.
  • Design and Analysis: Experience in design and analysis of falsework, bolted connections, welded connections, shoring, and structural stability.
  • Drawing Review: Experience reading, reviewing, and approving shop and fabrication drawings.
  • Rigging Structural Design: 8-10 years of experience in rigging structural design and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: M.S. in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering concentration.
  • Software Knowledge: Knowledge of RISA 3D, Mathcad, MATLAB, SolidWorks, AutoCAD 3D, and Revit.
  • Construction Background: 7 to 10 years of experience in rigging.
  • Lifting and Transport Plans: Experience preparing or evaluating critical lifting and heavy transport plans with industry software.
  • Code Knowledge: Knowledge of ASME, ASTM, AISC, ASCE codes and their application.
  • Design Experience: Experience with RISA 3D or SolidWorks Simulation FEA (or equivalent).

Work Environment
  • Travel: Must be able to travel, approximately 20%. For the purposes of driving, must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Location: Ability to work at our Headquarters in Long Beach, CA.
  • Physical Demands: Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. May occasionally require standing or moving between office areas.
