Job description

Epsilon Systems Solutions is seeking a full time Junior Structural Engineer I in San Diego, CA.
Summary: Provide structural engineering support to our customer related to U.S. Navy ships and vessels.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform complex engineering calculations for design development and to calculate strength, vibration behavior, and safety of modifications and/or repairs to the ship.
  • Prepare layout and detail drawings and sketches for varied and complex design projects using computer aided drafting software.
  • Assist reviewing production contractor Work Items, access cut plans, design calculations, and other structural engineering related documents for accuracy and technical acceptability.
  • Review lifting plans and safety nets for design and testing.
  • Develop and review weight test memos.
  • Perform Structural Calculation and FEA analysis.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Oceaneering, or related major.
  • 1 year full-time experience with the design, installation, repair, structural assessments, and maintenance of naval or marine structures or related equipment
  • Must be proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.

Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is $32.30 To $35.00 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience
ADA Notations:
  • Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise
  • Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight
  • Ability to work in office, warehouse, laboratory, pier side, and shipboard locations.
  • Noise conditions range from very quiet to loud, hearing protection may be required at times.
  • May be required to go aloft onboard ships to inspect Tanks, Voids, Spaces, and Superstructures.
