Temporary Solar Installer Jobs in Virginia (NOW HIRING)

This role focuses on leading and coordinating safety activities for a large solar construction project, including orientations, job safety analyses (JSAs), safety meetings, and oversight of internal and subcontractor safety programs. The safety technician promotes a strong health and safety culture on site by ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.

• Conduct new-hire and ongoing safety orientations for all site personnel and subcontractors.
• Develop and perform Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for tasks and work activities across the solar construction project.
• Lead regular safety meetings and daily safety talks to reinforce safety expectations and communicate hazards.
• Run and oversee internal safety programs, ensuring that company safety policies and procedures are consistently followed.
• Coordinate and monitor subcontractor safety practices to ensure alignment with site safety requirements and OSHA regulations.
• Promote and manage construction safety and solar-specific safety protocols throughout the project.
• Identify potential hazards, recommend corrective actions, and support continuous improvement in safety performance.
• Provide safety training and refreshers on OSHA, EHS, and construction safety topics as needed.
• Support safety management activities such as incident prevention, reporting, and follow-up.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate health and safety considerations into daily operations.

• OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification required.
• Minimum of 3+ years of solar safety experience in construction or utility-scale solar projects.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and OSHA safety standards.
• Demonstrated experience in construction safety and solar construction safety.
• Experience conducting safety training, orientations, and safety meetings.
• Background in health and safety (EHS) and safety management.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work effectively in an outdoor, new construction environment with long shifts.
• Strong communication skills to engage crews and subcontractors in safety programs.

• Experience working on large-scale solar projects and EPC-style construction environments.
• Familiarity with internal and subcontractor safety oversight and coordination.
• Ability to perform detailed JSAs and hazard assessments.
• Comfort with leading daily safety talks and group discussions.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple safety activities and documentation.
• Capability to build a positive safety culture and encourage safe behaviors across diverse teams.

You work outdoors at a large solar project site in a new construction environment, supporting a high-capacity (240 MW) installation. The schedule typically consists of 5–6 shifts per week, totaling 50+ hours, with the workday starting at 7:00 AM. You have three scheduled breaks each day—morning, lunch, and afternoon—and participate in a safety talk every morning before work begins. The role requires wearing appropriate work clothing suitable for outdoor conditions and construction activities. The environment is fast-paced and physically active, with ongoing solar and construction operations where safety is a central focus.

This is a Contract position based out of Richmond, VA.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
