Job description

The Software Developer will support the development, integration, and deployment of Piper’s transportation technology solutions. The role will focus on software development for both wired and wireless configurations and will work closely with engineering, testing, and field teams to develop and validate system solutions. This is a temporary full-time assignment for 12 weeks from hire to assist on a standalone project. 

Role and responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software supporting system functionality. 
  • Develop back-end applications and services using Node.js. 
  • Develop and maintain user interfaces using React. 
  • Develop, configure, and troubleshoot applications operating in Linux environments. 
  • Support integration of software with wired and wireless hardware components. 
  • Troubleshoot software, networking, and hardware/software integration issues. 
  • Participate in system integration, debugging, and functional testing. 
  • Work with testers to identify, reproduce, and resolve defects. 
  • Support deployment and configuration of software. 
  • Document software configurations, changes, known issues, and deployment procedures. 
  • Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions. 
  • Coordinate with engineering and project teams to support project requirements and schedules. 


Required Qualifications

  • Professional software development experience. 
  • Proficiency with Node.js / JavaScript. 
  • Experience developing applications using React. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux. 
  • Experience troubleshooting integrated hardware/software systems. 
  • Familiarity with wired and wireless networking concepts. 
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git. 
  • Ability to document technical work and communicate issues clearly to engineering and project teams.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field. 
  • 2+ years of software development experience.
