Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Med Surg unit under the supervision of the Unit Director, following the Maine Board of Nursing standards and hospital policies.
- Monitor patient status, perform rounds, respond to patient needs, and utilize telemetry as required.
- Administer medications and therapies per physician orders; document in the electronic health record; ensure accuracy and safety in medication administration.
- Collaborate with the care team, communicate clearly with patients and families, and participate in shift handoffs and rounding with the Clinical Leader/Charge Nurse.
- Maintain patient safety and infection control practices; document all care and observations accurately; adhere to regulatory requirements and hospital policy.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and multi-tasking abilities; contribute to a positive unit workflow and escalate issues to the charge nurse when needed.
Requirements
- Current Maine RN license
- BLS and ACLS required within 30 days of hire
- Telemetry experience preferred
- Bachelor's Degree preferred; MOAB or CPI certifications preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a hospital Med Surg setting; strong communication and teamwork skills
