Medical Records Clerk - Skokomish Tribal Health Clinic
We are seeking an experienced Medical Records Clerk to assist within the local Tribal Health Clinic in Shelton, WA. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in their skills and able to complete their tasks with little or no supervision. Experience within the native community will be highly valued.
Monday-Friday | Dayshift (8:00A-5:00P) | About 3 months *This is a temporary position*
Position Duties (include but are not limited to):
  • File, scan, index, and maintain patient records within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • Process incoming medical records (fax, mail, electronic interfaces)
  • Retrieve and release records in accordance with HIPAA, IHS, and Tribal Release of Information (ROI) policies
  • Support PRC documentation requirements, including timely record availability for referrals and claims processing
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of patient charts prior to clinical encounters
  • Respond to internal and external records requests in a timely manner
  • Assist with chart audits, quality assurance, and records tracking activities
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) at all times

Licensure/Experience:
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security principles
  • Effective communication and time management skills
  • Accurate data entry and record management
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience in a healthcare or tribal health setting preferred
