The Project Manager willpartner closely with Finance and Procurement leadership, the NextGen projectteam, State Accounting Office functional leads, Department of AdministrativeServices functional leads, Workday functional leads, integration teams, andthird-party vendors to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant solutions. Thisposition is accountable to the Finance and Procurement business owners, and weare specifically seeking someone who understands Workday Financialsarchitecture, finance business processes, and ERP transformation environments.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate a Workday Financial Management and Procurement project of moderate to high complexity, including implementations, enhancements, integrations, and optimization initiatives.
  • Provide full lifecycle project leadership across Workday Financials modules including:
    • General Ledger
    • Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
    • Asset Management
    • Procurement (requisitions, purchase orders, supplier management, inventory if applicable)
    • Banking & Settlements
    • Financial Reporting
  • Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, and Procurement business owners to align Workday system design with accounting policies, purchasing workflows, approval hierarchies, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Workday functional leads, integration developers (EIB, Studio, Core Connectors), third-party vendors, and internal SMEs to deliver scalable, compliant solutions.
  • Track Workday configuration, data conversion, integrations, security roles, and end-to-end testing cycles activities.
  • Assist in cutover planning, production readiness activities, and post-production stabilization for Workday Financials and Procurement deployments with project team.
  • Provides continuing direction to the project team, conducts status meetings, assesses proposed changes in scope, and recommends courses of action to project sponsors during the execution phase.

Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Procurement, IT, vendors, and integration partners to achieve defined business and system objectives.
  • Facilitate business process assessments and redesign efforts focused on:
  • Procure-to-Pay (P2P)
  • Record-to-Report (R2R)
  • Supplier onboarding and management
  • Spend controls and approval workflows
  • Financial reporting optimization
  • Monitor project milestones and activities, testing cycles, data validation checkpoints, and integration readiness to proactively address schedule or quality risks for DHS.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Finance leadership, Procurement leadership, Workday implementation partners, auditors, and internal PMO stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree inrelated field or specialized training and three years of IT project managementexperience
  • PMP certification fromPMI or equivalent certification
  • 5 years' experienceleading projects of moderate to high complexity (must have occurred in the last7 years).
  • 3 years' hands onexperience leading server-based application development/enhancement projects(must have occurred in the last 5 years).
  • Hands-on experience withMS Project, MS Visio, SharePoint 2013, and MS O365
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Accounting and procurement principles
    • Financial reporting structures
    • ERP integrations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within the last 3 years leading/coordinating vendor managed projects
  • Executive level written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in state government
  • Experience in Hands-on familiarity with:
  • Workday Financial Management
  • Workday Procurement Management
  • Experience working in an outsourced environment
