These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

MA/MS Degree in Communications/Media; Community Engagement; Exhibit Planning/Design; History; Interpretation; Journalism; Museum/Cultural Studies; and other similar fields with minimum additional experience of 15 year(s) in Exhibit planning/design for museums or other cultural institutions; Project management; Facilitation, Partnership development/management

• Broad knowledge of and considerable experience in the use of all interpretive and education media, including knowledge of the roles of exhibits, publications, audiovisuals, and digital interpretation (i.e., augmented reality, distance learning, etc.) in conveying park themes and stories to diverse audiences without impairing park resources.
• Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat

This position is located in the Management and Administration Division which oversees Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument (BICR) and Freedom Riders National Monument (FRRI). Duty location is in Birmingham, AL. The primary responsibilities of the Exhibits Project Manager ? Media and Design are to provide professional and technical support, advice, and analysis of interpretation exhibits and other interpretive media. Supports two parks with exhibit and media project management including the development of all aspects of visitor services, inclusive and thematic of messaging, strategic partnerships, industry best practices, platforms for delivery, accessibility, inclusion, enjoyability, and audience appropriateness. This requires maintaining a high degree of professional training, contacts, and expertise in the fields of interpretation, communication, multi-media design, customer service, and museum operations, as well as broad-based knowledge of the resources and stories that connect to the parks served.

• Provides professional and technical support, advice, and analysis of interpretation exhibits and other interpretive media as well as interpretive services, guidelines, best practices, rules and regulations. Supports two parks with exhibit and media project planning and management including the development of all aspects of visitor services, inclusive and thematic messaging, strategic partnerships, industry best practices, platforms for delivery, accessibility, enjoyability, and audience appropriateness. Works with park leadership and staff, relevant NPS resource teams (e.g., Harpers Ferry Center), exhibit design firms, and key National Monument partners and stakeholders to ensure interpretive media to accomplish goals. Works with the Cultural Resources office and partners to ensure exhibits are accurate and reflective of community input and that artifacts are appropriately displayed and protected, and/or replicated. Works with the Facilities Manager to ensure interpretive exhibits and media are properly installed, maintained, and accounted for in the Facility Management Software System. Coordinates efforts to tell broad stories spanning multiple sites, including partnership sites, in a compelling, collaborative and impactful way.55%
• Establishes and maintains partnerships on behalf of the park to support interpretive goals and media development. Provides input on integrating stakeholder input into exhibit design and content. Provides strategic quality control guidance advancing park, regional, and national goals and standards. Ensures that exhibit development processes and products align with guidance provided in NPS/park policies and documents (e.g., BICR and FRRI Foundation Document; Scope of Collections Statement).25%
• Coordinates interpretive exhibit planning meetings, community engagement sessions, unveilings, commemorations, and other events that garner public visibility and cooperation in the exhibit development process. Observes and evaluates BICR and FRRI interpretive programs to ensure alignment with exhibit development plans and needs. Other related project management duties as assigned.20%
