Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

The schedule follows an morning/first shift: Monday through Friday from 6 am - 2:30 pm.

Job Description

This Pharmacy Technician role supports a central fill pharmacy in Woodinville, WA that supplies patient-level prescriptions for a large national retail chain. You will accurately and efficiently fill prescription requests in a high-volume, automated refill environment under the supervision of a Pharmacist. The position requires maintaining a consistent workflow to meet daily production goals while performing repetitive tasks with acute attention to detail. You will work in a fast-paced production setting and contribute directly to safe, timely, and reliable medication delivery for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Manually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules according to established procedures and safety standards.
  • Read computer-generated screens to locate indicated merchandise on labeled shelves and verify the correct drug, size, and strength.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations to count or determine the appropriate number of units needed to fill prescriptions accurately.
  • Replenish medications in automated dispensing cells to full capacity, opening large quantities of bottles and cases of product as needed.
  • Use a handheld scanner to scan product barcodes and enter expiration dates and lot information into the computer application.
  • Maintain a high level of focus to avoid cross-contamination and perform quality assurance checks for expired and damaged products.
  • Prepare cold chain and specialty prescriptions, following special requirements for handling, packing, and temperature control.
  • Assist with packing and shipping of prescriptions to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
  • Understand and follow federal and state HIPAA laws and pharmacy standard procedures to protect patient safety and privacy.
  • Complete weekly cycle counts as assigned, including auditing cell inventory and counting product at primary and secondary bin locations.
  • Assist with research and identification of root causes for inventory discrepancies and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Work productively both independently and as part of a team to maintain continuous workflow and meet daily production targets.

Essential Skills

  • Active Washington State Pharmacy Technician license.
  • National pharmacy technician certification such as PTCB or ExCPT for continued employment beyond six months.
  • 0–1 year of experience in a pharmacy production environment, retail pharmacy, or pharmacy support role.
  • Experience with prescription refill processes in a high-volume setting.
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry related to prescriptions, inventory, and product information.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus while performing repetitive tasks to ensure accuracy and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Basic mathematical skills to count and calculate appropriate quantities for prescription fills.
  • Demonstrated problem resolution skills, including the ability to recognize issues, address them appropriately, and escalate to management when needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret computer-generated information and follow electronic workflow instructions.
  • Understanding of and commitment to complying with federal and state HIPAA regulations and pharmacy standard operating procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • National pharmacy technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT) is strongly preferred and required for employment longer than six months.
  • Previous experience working with automated dispensing systems and handheld scanners is beneficial.
  • Experience in a pick, pack, and ship high-volume environment is an advantage.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, production-focused setting.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain productivity under time constraints.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
