Job Title:
Student Research Assistant 2 - HCS
Department:
FAES | Horticulture and Crop Science-JM
The Vegetable Production Systems Laboratory in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science located on The OSU-Wooster Campus (https://proxy.qualtrics.com/proxy/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fu.osu.edu%2Fvegprolab%2F&token=lDe1D7S76H0PhqCO2XJnyO8uKdYc%2F%2FMx3XEB%2BRHy03E%3D) invites you or someone you recommend to contact us about positions available with our team.
Many skills are required to complete our work and we are currently recruiting new team members for part and full-time positions. These positions are ideal for people looking to align their workday with their interests and abilities.
What is important to know about this opportunity, our team, and what we do and why includes the following:
  • We address real-world challenges and opportunities faced by vegetable growers managing small to large farms across Ohio, the region, and globe. Our research and educational resources impact many people.
  • We study vegetables, and vegetable farming as it is and could be done. We focus on tools and practices expected to improve the success and resilience of vegetable farms and quality of food they produce.
  • We work year-round ... outside, in high tunnels and greenhouses, and in laboratories and offices. Individual tasks completed in all these settings vary, so they accommodate team members with different interests and abilities. Also, our activities change over time. This creates opportunities to learn and do different things.
  • Experience with these topics or in these settings is not required. Bring your willingness to learn and put in solid effort and you will succeed. Knowledge and abilities you develop are useful in other areas of work.
  • We do NOT study pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, or similar materials. We do occasionally study fertilizers and other materials applied to plants and soils.
  • We combine critical thinking with thoughtful action to meet our objectives. We are constantly learning -- applying trusted methods but always looking to improve them and address new challenges and opportunities.
  • We are serious about what we do and enjoy it.
  • We offer schedule flexibility.

Positions are located on The Ohio State University Wooster Campus.
