About this Position

This successful candidate for this position will possess the interest and ability to obtain a 3rd Class Limited Engineer license from the City of Tulsa within 12 months of being hired.
The Building Engineer Technician is an entry level position for the purpose of learning to operate and maintain OSU equipment. Will maintain equipment by tightening fittings, re-packing bearings, replacing packing glands, gaskets, valves and gauges. Will clean or replace components using hand tools and power tools. Will learn to maintain all air handling units by replacing defective belts, bearings, lubrication of fans and replacements of filters. Will also learn to maintain all building lighting systems including replacement of fixtures, bulbs and ballasts. The position will be responsible for general electrical and plumbing duties, performing water tests and replacing chemicals as needed into treatment tank to prevent scale build-up.
The person in this position will learn to record data, such as temperature of equipment, hours of operation, water and air pressure, water levels, voltage loads and gas gauge of paraflow (HVAC) units; also will learn to adjust manual controls or override automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges. Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair. Monitor static air pressure in the AHU units.  

Required Qualifications
  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, chillers, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to record and maintain accurate records.
  • Handle several technical tasks at once and organize daily workload. Interact effectively with staff, faculty and students. Provide high quality service in a university setting
