Job description

Senior Systems Engineer (Remote - Ohio)Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, implement, support, and optimize enterprise infrastructure technologies across a complex multi-site environment. This role is heavily focused on Microsoft 365 administration, Azure AD/Entra ID, and Intune, with a strong emphasis on troubleshooting email and account-related issues. The ideal candidate is a proactive engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, improving system performance, and supporting a large enterprise user base.

Location
  • Remote within Ohio
  • Must reside in Ohio and be available to come onsite occasionally if needed
Schedule
  • Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Participates in an on-call rotation (approximately 2 weeks at a time with a team of 7 engineers)

What You'll Do
  • Administer and support the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and related services.
  • Troubleshoot email delivery, mailbox, authentication, licensing, and account-related issues.
  • Manage and support Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) and Intune environments.
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise server and infrastructure solutions.
  • Monitor system performance, security, and availability across enterprise environments.
  • Support virtualization platforms and respond to infrastructure-related incidents.
  • Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell and other scripting tools.
  • Lead and contribute to technical projects spanning multiple teams and technologies.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical production systems.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years supporting and administering Microsoft Active Directory environments.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Azure AD / Entra ID and Microsoft Intune.
  • 3+ years supporting Windows Server environments in a complex enterprise setting.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and/or Hyper-V.
  • Scripting experience using PowerShell or other automation tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives or infrastructure projects.

Preferred Qualifications
  • VMware administration experience.
  • Microsoft SQL Server experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft System Center tools.
  • Experience with Linux server administration.
  • MCSE, MCSA, or other relevant Microsoft certifications.
  • Experience with Citrix, Oracle, network monitoring tools, or enterprise healthcare environments is a plus.
