Job description

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company's portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.
The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.
Job Description
The Temporary Assay Laboratory Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, reliable and accurate handling and preparation of all samples submitted to the Assay Laboratory. The incumbent must possess good communication skills, be self-motivated, organized, and consistently align daily activities with Kinross values. This is a temporary Kinross six month assignment.
Job Responsibilities
• Accurately log, track, and enter sample data in logbooks and electronic databases.
• Perform sample preparation including drying, crushing, splitting, pulverizing, fire assay, and possible forklift operation.
• Preform routine housekeeping and preventative maintenance on laboratory and preparation equipment.
• Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Identify and report analytical discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and safe work practices.
• Complete required training, task certifications, and written assessments; and meet established performance standards.
• Work independently with limited supervision while maintaining punctual attendance and productivity standards.
• Adhere to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
