Open Pit Short Range Planning Engineer


Position Summary


The role is part of the Open Pit Planning Team and focuses on planning, designing, and optimizing daily and weekly open pit mining activities that directly impact safety, production, and cost performance.


Key Responsibilities


·      Develop and execute short-range mine plans aligned with weekly, monthly, and quarterly production targets.

·      Collaborate closely with operations, geology, and drill & blast teams to optimize ore recovery and material movement.

·      Generate and reconcile end-of-month (EOM) production data and mining progress reports.

·      Monitor and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly plan compliance and identify improvement opportunities.

·      Create bench plans, dig plans, and dump designs to support safe and efficient mining operations.

·      Track and report highwall, dump, and production performance metrics.

·      Provide direction and technical support to operations teams to ensure execution of mine plans.

·      Drive continuous improvement initiatives through field engagement, operational data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.


Required Qualifications



·      Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.

·      3+ years of open pit mine planning experience.

·      Experience with mine planning software such as Deswik (preferred), Vulcan, or similar platforms.

·      Strong understanding of drill & blast operations, material movement, and production environments.

·      Ability to balance technical planning requirements with operational realities.

·      Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

·      High attention to detail and ability to work in fast-paced mining operations.
