About the Opportunity

Job Summary

The College of Science at Northeastern University seeks a Temporary Human Resources Associate who will provide administrative and operational support for a variety of HR functions, including hiring, onboarding, employee transactions, compliance, and personnel records management. This temporary position serves as a key resource to managers, faculty, and staff by helping ensure HR processes are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with university policies.

Responsibilities

  • Support recruitment and hiring activities, including requisition management, offer preparation, and onboarding coordination for postdoctoral research associates and part-time faculty within the College of Science
  • Serve as a point of contact for new hires and assist managers throughout the hiring and onboarding process
  • Process and track HR transactions related to appointments, employee changes, and separations, including coordinating visa-related employment activities.
  • Support requests for academic visitors (visiting faculty, scholars, and students)
  • Coordinate compliance-related activities, including employment verification and required documentation
  • Maintain accurate personnel records and assist with HR reporting and data management
  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries and collaborate with University HR partners to resolve issues
  • Assist with temporary staffing, special projects, and process improvement initiatives as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One to three years of professional experience in human resources, administration, or a related field; preferably within a higher education setting
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HR information systems, such as Workday
  • Familiarity with recruitment, onboarding, employee lifecycle processes, and international hiring or visa processes preferred.
