GoodTemps, the staffing social enterprise of Goodwill NYNJ, delivers temporary staffing solutions to government agencies, nonprofits, and private employersโwhile creating employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, veterans,ย and others facing barriers to work.ย GoodTempsย is part of Goodwill NYNJโs Business Services division, which also includes our Janitorial Services and Good Guards, our soon-to-launch securityย guardย social enterprise currently in development.ย
ย The Director ofย Business Developmentย is a quota-carrying individual contributor responsible for driving revenue growth acrossย fourย key areas:ย
- Drive business development growth across Goodwill NYNJโs full Business Services portfolioโincludingย GoodTemps, and Janitorial Services=โby expanding and deepening relationships withย NYC and NYS government agency customers.ย ย
- Launch private-sector employer partnerships across staffing, janitorial, and security service lines, creating diversified revenue streams and increasing market penetration beyond traditional public-sector customers.ย ย
- Develop and scale new revenue channels through payrolling contracts, strategic partnerships, and revenue-sharing models that strengthen the financial sustainability of all Business Services divisions.ย ย
- Lead the strategic market re-entry and business developmentย inย ย ย Newย Jersey forย Goodย Tempsย andย supporting the continued growth of Janitorial Servicesย in Newark / Bergan County, creating a stronger and more diversified Business Services footprint acrossย the 10ย counties in NJ.ย
GoodTempsย currently deploys overย 500 temporary employees, over 70% who are people with disabilities,ย daily, with a strategic goal of increasing toย 600 active daily placements in FY27.ย This role is central to driving that growth, while also supporting broader Business Services expansion.ย
The position works in close partnership with the Business Services/Good Temps leadership team, while reporting directly to the EVP, Business Services / Executive Director,ย GoodTemps, to drive coordinated growth across Goodwill NYNJโs full Business Services portfolio.
Key Responsibilitiesย
Revenue Growth & Sales Executionย
- Generate new staffingย and janitorialย orders across government, nonprofit, and private-sector clientsย
- Execute consistent outreach through calls, email, LinkedIn, and in-person engagementย
- Conduct meetings and presentations to positionย Goodwill NYNJย as a workforce partnerย and a key advocate for no talent left behind for people with disabilities and veteransย
- Convert opportunities into clearly defined job orders and revenue-generating agreementsย
Government Revenue Expansionย
- Expand business within existing agency customers such as HRA, DOE, MTA, DOHMH, and other public-sector organizationsย
- Build relationships with agency leadership, HR teams, and hiring managersย
- Navigate procurement pathways including DCAS and NYSIDย
- Collaborate with NYSIDโs business development team toย identifyย opportunities, strengthen contractย utilization, and expandย GoodTempsโย and Janitorialย footprint across NYC and NYS government agencies.ย ย Connect with ACCESSNJ and find other opportunities in NJS and key counties.ย
- Identifyย repeatable staffing needs across clerical, administrative, and field-based rolesย
Private Sector Growthย
- Build and establishย GoodTempsโ private-sector business development strategy across corporate, nonprofit, and mission-aligned employers, creating a new and scalable revenue channel.ย ย
- Develop foundational relationships with organizations seeking flexible staffing, payrolling, janitorial, and future security workforce solutions.ย ย
- Positionย GoodTempsย and Goodwill NYNJ Business Services as a trusted workforce and social impact partner capable of delivering talent, operational value, and mission-driven outcomes.ย ย
Revenue Diversificationย
- Develop and secure payrolling contracts with organizations that require workforce management supportย
- Establish revenue-sharing partnershipsย (powered byย GoodTemps)ย with workforce providers, training organizations, and community partnersย
- Structure,ย optimize, and expand agreements that strengthenย GoodTempsโ service model and diversify revenue streams, including proactively evaluating existing contracts for strategic updates, restructuring, and scalable enhancements that increase revenue potential while preserving strong long-term client relationshipsย
New Jersey Market Developmentย
- Establishย GoodTempsโ temporary staffing presenceย for people with disabilities and veteransย in New Jersey, with a focus on Newark and surrounding regionsย
- Identifyย and secure new employer partnerships across public, nonprofit, and private sectorsย
- Introduceย GoodTempsโ staffing model to NJ-based organizations and navigate applicable procurement or vendor onboarding processesย
- Collaborate with ACCSES NJโs business development team toย identifyย opportunities,ย leverageย contract access, and accelerate market entryย
- Align staffing opportunities with available talent pipelines, including individuals with disabilitiesย
- Partner internally to address geographic and transportation-related workforce considerationsย
Opportunity Development & Order Qualityย
- Translate client needs into clear, actionable job ordersย
- Align scope, pay rates, and timelines withย operational capabilitiesย
- Ensure job orders are well-defined and fillableย
- Build and improve systemsย and be the owner of systems and communication channels.ย
Internal Coordinationย
- Partner with Talent & Placement teams to ensure successful fulfillment by aligning business development efforts with operational capacity, workforce readiness, customer expectations,ย remove barriers / help withย accommodations,ย and high-quality service delivery that supports long-term client retention and scalable growth.ย
- Provide detailed context on client expectations and timelinesย
- Maintain communication throughout the placement lifecycleย
- Partner withย Missionย and People &ย Culture to share job opportunities, training programs, promote and sell Goodwill NYNJ together and support theย organizationsย impact.ย
ย Pipeline Development & Market Engagementย
- Maintain a robust revenue pipeline through consistent outbound outreach, strategic partnerships, and active management of qualified opportunities across all business lines.ย
- Identifyย emerging workforce needs across NYC and Northern New Jerseyย
- Representย GoodTempsย and Business Servicesย at workforce and industry eventsย
Sales Performance & Reportingย
- Maintainย accurateย CRM records of outreach, meetings, and opportunitiesย
- Track performance against order generation, placements, and revenue targetsย
- Provideย critical thinking, analysis andย keepย ย leadershipย plugged into the trends and key metricsย
Qualificationsย
- Significant experienceย in sales, business development, or staffing servicesย ย
- Demonstrated success generating new business and managing client relationshipsย
- Experience working with government agencies, procurement processes, or workforce programs preferredย ย
