Clinical Nurse II- Pediatric Specialty Outpatient

Job Summary

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse II in our Duke Children's Specialty Creekstone clinic located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Perform patient intake including: obtaining vital signs (including manual blood pressures), administering survey tools, conducting educational assessments (patients/guardians), medication review, assisting patients with preparing questions for provider visit, assisting patients with ambulation/toileting. Completing procedural tasks including: administering specialty medication injections, provide teaching for self-administered injections, insulin administration/verification, oral medications according to protocols and provider orders. Full assessments as needed. Monitor patients for potential reactions to therapy administered. Provide patient/family education for specialty injections and assess for understanding, bill for nursing procedures. Assist with clinic procedures- joint injections, IUD/Nexplanon insertion/removal, recognize and troubleshoot inconsistencies in patient response, report to provider. Perform EKG, POCT, assist with prior authorizations and triage as available. Documentation of medications, vaccines, assessments in electronic health record. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Eligibility Requirements

Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within seven years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification. Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. Twelve months of pediatric experience is required. Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
