Energy and Environmental Science/Sustainability and Resilience - Engineering Faculty Search

Description
The College of Engineering (CoE) of University of Miami (UM) seeks exceptional candidates for full-time, tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor with background and expertise in (1) Indoor Air Environment and Building Energy Modeling or (2) Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA) for sustainable civil infrastructure systems. These two positions are aligned with the CoE's Energy and Environment technology area, the Sustainability and Resilience Thrust and the University's Climate Resilience Institute. Specific examples of expertise and applications include building and energy system modeling and simulation, indoor air diffusion and quality modeling and simulation, and water distribution system hydraulic analysis, LCA/TEA applied to sustainable civil infrastructure systems, nexus of infrastructure engineering with social sciences and/or public health. Candidates should demonstrate outstanding scholarly achievements and a collaborative research vision that bridges disciplines within the Civil and Architectural Engineering, or other related departments, and across multiple thrust areas under College of Engineering, including but not limited to Sustainability and Resilience, Energy and Environment, Health Engineering and Data Sciences, as well as between regional/national industry partners, and a broad set of stakeholders, including federal and state agencies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the development of transformative career paths and workforce development inspired through cutting edge research and technological innovations in response to societal needs and grand challenges.

Qualifications
Competitive candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or closely related discipline and be able to teach core civil and architectural engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate level to achieve student outcomes. Development of complementary graduate courses in the candidate's area of expertise is also encouraged. The candidate will advise both M.S. and Ph.D. students and develop a high-quality and productive sponsored research program. Competitive candidates will have a significant record of academic accomplishments, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, a commitment to inclusive excellence, and a willingness to expand disciplinary boundaries to address complex technical and societal grand challenges.
