Job description

Platform Software Engineer, Nexus & Integrations

Flexible / Raleigh, NC Engineering & Operations Contract Senior

About the Role

Build the reusable platform capabilities, services, APIs, extensions, and integrations that make Nexus a control plane for protected environments. This role owns technical development: production software, extension templates, service integration, packaging, performance, testing, and the interfaces that let internal teams and outside organizations build on Nexus without recreating authentication, data, storage, proxying, notifications, identity, or deployment infrastructure. Near-term work is expected to begin as a scoped, part-time or project-based contract engagement. A full-time role may open in roughly 6–12 months as funding and product demand mature. That timing is not guaranteed; we will be direct about active scope and budget.

Requirements
  • A record of shipping and maintaining production software or infrastructure services
  • Strong skills in TypeScript, Go, or another systems-oriented backend language
  • Comfort with Linux, containers, APIs, databases, networking, and automated testing
  • Ability to design clear extension and integration contracts for other developers
  • Care for resource usage, performance, security, observability, and long-term operability
  • Ability to work independently while documenting decisions and handing off supportable systems
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with PostgreSQL, Caddy or reverse proxies, LDAP and identity systems, PKI and certificates, package registries, Debian or RPM packaging, air-gapped deployments, TAK services, AI model integrations, or extension/plugin ecosystems. Experience building developer templates, SDKs, or integration tooling is especially useful.

Benefits
  • Paid, scoped work on core product and integration problems
  • Direct influence on Nexus architecture, APIs, and extension patterns
  • Work across edge, self-hosted, and enterprise environments
  • Flexible work structure based on the engagement and project need
  • A possible path to a full-time role as programs, funding, and demand mature
