Job description

We are looking for a talented Scrum Master I to join our team specializing in Systems/IT for our Corporate organization in Columbus, IN

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead the adoption of lean/agile principles, embedding best practices to improve team efficiency, collaboration, and value delivery.
  • Partner closely with the Product Owner to refine backlogs, prioritize work effectively, and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Coach and develop team members on Scrum and agile methodologies, fostering growth through continuous feedback and servant leadership.
  • Create a high-performing team culture grounded in trust, transparency, accountability, and self-organization.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies and workflows (estimation, sprint planning, retrospectives) to drive consistent, high-quality delivery.
  • Champion continuous improvement by identifying gaps between agile theory and execution and implementing practical enhancements.
  • Track, analyze, and communicate key agile metrics (e.g., burn-downs, velocity) to optimize performance and proactively address risks.
  • Remove obstacles, protect the team from external disruptions, and build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure smooth delivery of business value

The Scrum Master helps foster the culture of technical discipline and craftsmanship that is the hallmark of effective Agile teams.

Builds a high-performing team - Focuses on ever-improving team dynamics and performance and coaches the team in self-management.

Helps the team resolve interpersonal conflicts and challenges and identify opportunities for growth. Escalates people problems to management where necessary, but only after internal team processes have failed to resolve the issue; helps individuals.

Responsibilities on the train - The Scrum Master helps coordinate inter-team cooperation and helps the team operate well on the train.

The Scrum Master supports the team's efforts to continuously improve communications and relationships with other teams. They frequently represent the team in the Scrum of Scrums (SoS), Dependency management, helping the team remain aware of opportunities to engage and improve program effectiveness. They also often help the team build effective relationships? with the System Team, User Experience, Architecture, and Shared Services.

Supports SAFe adoption - The Scrum Master supports the overall adoption of SAFe across the enterprise by coaching stakeholders and other non-agile teams on effective interactions with agile teams, participating in the Scrum Master Community of Practice, and supporting the organization's SPCs. Facilitate the Inspect and Adapt problem solving and provide metrics data on team performance to the organization.

The Scrum Master works with other Scrum Masters and stakeholders to help the team contribute towards improving the overall development Value Stream. Assists the team in preparation for ART activities, including PI Planning, System Demos, and the Inspect and Adapt. Supports estimating - Guides the team in establishing normalized estimates and helps the team understand how to estimate Features and Capabilities.

  • Lean Agile and SAFe Mindset - Advocates for and leads others in the concepts of the Agile Manifesto and Lean thinking in support of adopting and applying the 9 SAFe principles and practices for the organization.
  • Planning and Managing Ceremonies - Plans, schedules, and leads ceremonies that create a cadence for the team to maximize productivity, promote collaboration, maintain transparency, and inspect and adapt so the team can continuously learn and improve.
  • Release Planning - Plans and manages the release of capabilities, features or products using inputs from the prioritized roadmap, planning, available resources and skills to communicate expected availability and releases of capability.
  • Project Management - Establishes and maintains the balance of scope, schedule and resources for a temporary effort (a "project"). Ensures results/impact from temporary effort are fully realized as possible.
  • Values differences - Recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related subject, or relevant equivalent experience required.
  • Agile Certification (Certified Scrum Master - CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or Safe Scrum Master Certification (SSM) are preferred.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

  • Experience working in a software development organization and in an Agile environment as a scrum master demonstrating knowledge and practical experience of the
