How much do temporary marine service engineer jobs pay per hour?
What is the difference between Temporary Marine Service Engineer vs Marine Technician?
| Aspect | Temporary Marine Service Engineer | Marine Technician |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Certifications in marine engineering, relevant technical licenses | Technical certifications, marine equipment training |
| Work Environment | Onboard ships, offshore platforms, repair yards | Shipyards, maintenance facilities, onboard vessels |
| Employer & Industry | Shipping companies, offshore oil & gas, marine service providers | Shipowners, maintenance companies, marine equipment suppliers |
Both roles involve technical skills related to marine systems, but a Temporary Marine Service Engineer typically has broader responsibilities, including troubleshooting and system repairs onboard ships or offshore platforms, often requiring certifications in marine engineering. Marine Technicians focus more on maintenance and repair of marine equipment, usually within shipyards or maintenance facilities. The main difference lies in scope and work setting, with the engineer role often being more supervisory and project-oriented.
