Job Title: Maintenance Electrician
Job Description
The Maintenance Electrician installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains industrial electrical systems and equipment in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role focuses on diagnosing electrical issues, working with PLCs, calibrating and testing equipment, and ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently to support continuous production.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot all electrical breakdowns on production and facility equipment and perform timely, effective repairs.
- Test faulty equipment and use knowledge of electrical systems and functional operation to diagnose causes of malfunctions.
- Test electrical components and circuits using appropriate instruments to locate defects and determine corrective actions.
- Replace defective components and wiring, and adjust associated mechanical parts to restore proper operation.
- Align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to specifications to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Calibrate testing instruments to maintain accuracy and compliance with operational standards.
- Work with PLCs, including troubleshooting and basic programming, to support automated equipment and processes.
- Run wires throughout machinery and equipment, ensuring proper routing, labeling, and secure connections.
- Rewire motors and associated control circuits as needed to support equipment installation, modification, and repair.
- Bend and install conduit and pipe to support new installations and modifications of electrical systems.
- Install and repair industrial machinery and equipment, coordinating electrical work with mechanical requirements.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to plan and execute electrical tasks.
- Use tools such as voltmeters and other electrical test equipment to verify system integrity and safety.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, calibrations, tests, and maintenance activities for reference and compliance.
- Follow all safety procedures and best practices while working on live and de-energized equipment in an industrial setting.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Strong proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing industrial electrical systems and equipment.
- Hands-on experience working with PLCs, including troubleshooting and basic programming.
- Ability to run wires throughout machinery and equipment in a clean, organized, and code-compliant manner.
- Proficiency in rewiring motors and working with motor controls.
- Skilled in bending and installing conduit and pipe for electrical installations.
- Ability to install and repair industrial machinery, coordinating electrical and mechanical requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
- Proficient use of electrical test equipment, including voltmeters and related diagnostic tools.
- Solid understanding of industrial electrical components, circuits, and safety practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in an industrial environment producing building materials or similar products.
- Familiarity with calibrating and maintaining testing instruments and production equipment.
- Comfort working with both electrical and mechanical aspects of industrial machinery.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to documentation and recordkeeping.
- Willingness to work on a 3rd shift schedule in a high-volume manufacturing facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waukegan, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
