2–3 Month Contract

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to provide immediate, full-time support on active contested probate and guardianship matters.

This is a temporary contract position expected to last approximately two months, with the possibility of extending to three months.

The attorney is preparing for multiple depositions, mandatory mediation, and an anticipated trial and needs an experienced litigation paralegal who can step into an active case and provide hands-on litigation and trial preparation support with minimal training.

This position is fully remote; however, candidates must have strong litigation experience and be comfortable independently managing discovery, depositions, exhibits, deadlines, and electronic case files.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage discovery requests and responses as they are received
  • Track discovery deadlines and maintain the litigation calendar
  • Coordinate and schedule depositions
  • Prepare deposition materials and organize supporting documents
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics with opposing counsel and other parties
  • Prepare and issue subpoenas
  • Assist with electronic service of pleadings, discovery, and other litigation documents
  • Organize exhibits for depositions, mediation, hearings, and trial
  • Create and maintain digital trial binders
  • Organize witness and exhibit materials for trial preparation
  • Assist with preparation for direct and cross-examination of multiple witnesses
  • Maintain organized electronic case files and ensure attorneys can quickly locate relevant documents
  • Assist with Minnesota electronic filing and service through the Tyler Odyssey court filing system
  • Support the attorney with the procedural and organizational aspects of discovery and trial preparation
  • Monitor upcoming deadlines and proactively identify items requiring attorney attention

Ideal Experience

The ideal candidate is a seasoned litigation paralegal who has supported attorneys through discovery, depositions, mediation, and trial preparation.

Experience with probate, estate, guardianship, or other contested civil matters is highly desirable, but strong litigation experience is the priority.

Candidates should be comfortable entering an active matter that is already moving quickly and taking ownership of litigation support without requiring extensive training.

Experience in the following is required:

  • Civil litigation
  • Discovery management
  • Deposition coordination
  • Subpoenas
  • Trial preparation
  • Digital trial binders
  • Exhibit organization
  • Electronic filing and service
  • Minnesota court procedures
  • Tyler Odyssey e-filing
  • Clio
  • Microsoft OneDrive

Candidates who are not already registered for Minnesota electronic filing must be willing and able to complete the necessary registration promptly.

Important Role Scope

This position is primarily focused on litigation management, discovery coordination, deposition support, organization, and trial preparation.

The attorney is not seeking significant legal research or substantive legal drafting support for this assignment.

Schedule & Duration

  • Full-time
  • Remote
  • Temporary contract
  • Approximately 2 months, with potential extension to 3 months
  • Immediate start required

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who can step in, understand how litigation moves, anticipate what needs to happen next, and help bring organization and structure to a fast-moving contested matter.

The successful candidate will be highly organized, deadline-driven, proactive, comfortable working independently, and experienced enough to require minimal supervision.
