Job description

Note: This is a temporary position (approximately 6 months). The position will start on June 1, 2026 and the end date will be mutually agreed upon.


The purpose of the position is to handle day-to-day coordination of all social media accounts representing USTA Southern and its departments. This role plays an important part in the success of USTA Southern by planning, developing, and implementing social media campaigns and maintaining player, parent, coach and fan engagement.


Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Develop and plan social media campaigns to increase likes, followers, reach, and engagement.
  • Generate, create, and manage all social media published content (images, video, and written) for all departments, including the Southern Tennis Foundation.
  • Be an advocate for USTA Southern and the Southern Tennis Foundation in all social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.
  • Strategically identify influencers/content creators and assist in outreach to grow the sport.
  • Manage all social media sponsor activation planning.
  • Identity and prepare collaboration proposals for social media influencers who are in line with the organizational brand.
  • Analyze, prepare and present social media data using reporting platforms, such as Hootsuite in an effort to maximize engagement results.
  • Support all departments in brainstorming and executing new and innovative marketing ideas through social media to reach section goals and national priorities including but not limited to increase in new participant recruitment, member retention and engagement, adult and junior tournament and league participation, coaching education and officials recruiting and retention.
  • Assist with special projects for the section which includes but not limited to the creation of marketing support materials and presentations for all departments and their program initiatives.
  • Create content and marketing materials in Spanish where needed.


Competencies

  • Presentation skills, particularly to partners and community groups
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task as position will manage several projects concurrently
  • Highly organized, motivated self-starter, enthusiastic personality with desire to promote and grow tennis
  • Tennis playing experience a plus


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sports Marketing or related field
  • Experience in event planning and event details
  • Experience in growing and maintaining brand activity across social media platforms
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace and Canva


Preferred Education and Experience

  • 2-5 years of marketing experience in youth, multi-cultural and/or sports marketing
  • Knowledge of video editing
  • Experience in writing website stories, magazine articles and copywriting/editing
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Passion for sports


Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no direct supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment

This position operates in a clerical, office setting. The position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. At times, this position will be off-site at partner offices, state offices, meetings, tournaments, partner activations, and events.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk while offsite; use hands to finger and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift up to 10-20 pounds.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a temporary, non-exempt, full-time position and is only eligible for federal and state law-required programs. This position is not eligible for any employee benefit programs. Typical days and core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but will require hours outside of the core business hours.


Travel

The position requires travel, including but not limited to sponsor activations, meetings, tournaments, events and workshops.
