Job description

The lab assistant will be underdirect supervision of the Culinary Institute's Lab Manager.  The guidelines for performance will bedirectly related to procedures and processes within the scope of thehospitality industry.

Safetyand Sanitation                                                                                                                          15%
Must assist theLab Manager to maintain a safe and sanitary working lab to include temperaturecontrols on equipment, operation of equipment, lab ingredient storage, meetOSHA regulations, and maintain a clean, sanitary workspace.
InventoryManagement                                                                                                                       15%
Must assist theLab Manager with the inventory of perishable items, paper products, cleaningsupplies, linens, etc. as well as assistant with the smallwares and equipment inventory as needed.
GeneralLab Functions                                                                                                                        45%
Assist the LabManager with the pre-lab preparation, assist student and faculty members duringthe lab exercises, and maintain a clean and sanitary workspace.  Must be able to follow instructions requestedby the faculty and communicate on a professional level with faculty andstudents to maintain a learning environment.  Assist with the clean-up procedures after each lab.
