What You'll Do as a Licensed Veterinary Technician:

Lead Duties:

Team Support & Supervision: Act as a go-to resource and mentor for technicians throughout the day

Assign techs to doctors and redistribute workload as needed to ensure coverage

Serve as a floater to assist wherever needed and keep the day running smoothly

Keep team accountable, productive, and supported

Catch and correct errors before they occur or quickly troubleshoot when they do

Clinical & Surgical Duties:

Lead surgical workflow: Keep the surgical schedule moving and support doctors in procedures

Anesthesia management: Intubate, induce, maintain, and monitor anesthesia for a variety of procedures

Advanced monitoring: Proficient in BP, ECG, SpO2, CO2, and temperature

Oversee surgery turnover, ensuring a clean and efficient setup for the next procedure

Act as the surgery "quarterback": directing traffic, troubleshooting, and keeping the OR running on time

Perform and verify drug calculations and anesthetic doses, and double-check calculations made by other team members

Technical Troubleshooting & Lab Support:

Troubleshoot issues with tech equipment, in-house lab machines, anesthesia machines, and autoclave

Be the first line of defense for technical glitches and workflow interruptions

Communication & Client Relations:

Field client complaints and resolve issues with professionalism and care

Serve as a point of contact between doctors, staff, and clients during surgical cases

Surgical & Anesthesia Support:

Anesthetic monitoring (EKG, SpO2, EtCO2, BP, Temp)

Induction, prep, recovery, and post-op monitoring

Sterilization of equipment and surgical suite flow

Dentistry:

Ultrasonic scaling, polishing, dental radiographs, and charting

Radiology:

Patient positioning for thoracic, abdominal, orthopedic radiographs

Submitting radiographs to specialists

Laboratory & Diagnostics:

Collect, process, and submit lab samples

Run in-house diagnostics (iSTAT)

Patient Appointments & Client Communication:

Triage, history, treatments, client education, medication instructions

Handle technician appointments, treatments, invoicing, and check-out

Technical Skills Utilized:

Nail trims, ear cleanings, anal glands, blood draws (cephalic, saphenous, jugular)

Cystocentesis, BP monitoring, bandaging, suture removal

Clinic Operations:

Maintain clean, safe treatment areas

Stock rooms, prepare prescriptions

Support front desk as needed (phones, check-ins/check-outs)
