Job description

Instrumentation Controls Technician
Location: Lyndhurst, NJ
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM (2nd Shift)
Pay: $35 - $40 per hour
Are you the kind of person who can look at a control panel, hear a weird machine noise, and immediately start diagnosing the problem in your head? If PLCs, instrumentation, and troubleshooting industrial equipment are your thing, this could be a great fit.
We are seeking an Instrumentation Controls Technician to support a busy manufacturing facility in Lyndhurst, NJ. In this role, you will work with plant systems, instrumentation, and control equipment to ensure operations run safely and efficiently. You will also help maintain calibration programs, troubleshoot automation issues, and support plant operations when technical challenges arise.

What You'll Do
  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC and control systems supporting plant equipment
  • Maintain and repair instrumentation, sensors, and electrical systems
  • Analyze and test computer control systems based on system design specifications
  • Support machine operating systems and control programs
  • Perform instrument calibration and calibration documentation
  • Manage calibration schedules and maintain compliance with ISO 9000 requirements
  • Diagnose issues with labeling equipment and automated systems
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on electrical and electronic devices
  • Provide rotational weekend on-call support for plant operations when required
What We're Looking For
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Solid electrical and controls background
  • Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred)
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read technical drawings, P&IDs, and ladder logic diagrams
  • Experience performing instrument calibration
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or on a team
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing environments such as chemical, pharmaceutical, or food processing is preferred
  • Technical school training or related degree preferred
  • Experience with CMMS systems and smart instruments is a plus
