Job description

Identity & Access Management (IAM) Analyst

The Identity & Access Management (IAM) Analyst supports the organization’s Identity and Access Management program by processing user access requests and ensuring employees receive appropriate system access throughout the employment lifecycle.

Using strong technical, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, the IAM Analyst serves as a liaison among the IT Service Desk, Human Resources, hiring managers, and business units to ensure timely and accurate access provisioning.

This position supports Active Directory as the system of record for user identities and Okta as the organization’s single sign-on platform. The IAM Analyst contributes to the protection of sensitive healthcare information while supporting VITAS Healthcare’s mission of delivering compassionate end-of-life care.

All duties and responsibilities must be performed in accordance with VITAS Healthcare Corporation’s policies, procedures, guidelines, contractual commitments, and applicable governmental regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process user access requests in accordance with identity lifecycle management procedures, including employee onboarding, role changes, transfers, and offboarding.

  • Create, modify, and disable user accounts across enterprise systems, including Active Directory and Okta, while ensuring accuracy and timely completion.

  • Administer group memberships and access permissions based on approved access requirements and the principle of least privilege.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve access-related issues, including account lockouts, authentication failures, password issues, and provisioning errors.

  • Manage IAM-related service tickets within established service-level agreements.

  • Collaborate with the IT Service Desk, Human Resources, hiring managers, and business units to validate access requirements and confirm proper authorization.

  • Monitor identity and access activity for unusual or potentially unauthorized activity and escalate security concerns as appropriate.

  • Support periodic access reviews, internal audits, and compliance initiatives, including HIPAA and SOX requirements.

  • Generate access reports, investigate discrepancies, and assist with the remediation of audit findings.

  • Maintain accurate and current documentation of IAM procedures, workflows, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

  • Identify opportunities to improve IAM processes through automation, standardization, and workflow enhancements.

  • Participate in IAM-related projects and initiatives designed to strengthen security and improve operational efficiency.

  • Provide guidance to end users regarding access request procedures, authentication tools, multifactor authentication, and single sign-on.

  • Escalate complex technical or security-related issues to senior IAM, cybersecurity, or technical support personnel as needed.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by a supervisor or member of management.

Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

Experience and Skills
  • One to three years of experience in IT support, help desk, technical support, or user account administration required.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, ticket-driven environment.

  • Familiarity with identity and access management concepts and user lifecycle processes.

  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, including user and group administration.

  • Familiarity with Okta or a similar single sign-on or IAM platform preferred.

  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, including least privilege and access control.

  • Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow preferred.

  • Ability to use administrative tools or scripts to support bulk account operations.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet established deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate across departments and provide excellent customer service.

  • Ability to follow established procedures and maintain compliance with security standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field preferred but not required.

Certifications

Relevant certifications, including CompTIA Security+, Microsoft, or Okta certifications, are preferred but not required.
