Job Summary
We are seeking an Operational Materials Planner for a contract opportunity in Indianapolis, IN. This role supports centralized materials planning for an advanced manufacturing environment, with a focus on raw materials, GMP consumables, supplier coordination, purchase order execution, and accurate site-level demand planning.
The Operational Materials Planner will serve as a key connection point between manufacturing sites, central materials planning, suppliers, procurement, quality, engineering, and supply chain partners. This is a strong opportunity for a detail-oriented supply chain professional who enjoys operational execution, problem solving, data accuracy, and working in a collaborative, fast-paced production planning environment.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to reliable manufacturing operations, improve materials planning processes, support supplier performance, and gain valuable experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, validate, normalize, and aggregate site-level demand and materials data to support centralized network materials planning.
- Execute transactional buying activities, including material ordering, purchase order creation, purchase order changes, supplier follow-up, delivery issue resolution, and invoicing support.
- Maintain accurate materials and purchasing master data in SAP, including vendor records, material info records, source lists, and pricing conditions.
- Serve as the primary operational interface between manufacturing sites, suppliers, and the central materials planning function.
- Support KPI tracking and reporting related to buying accuracy, on-time delivery, demand intake timeliness, supplier performance, and transactional data quality.
- Assist with process improvements and automation initiatives that streamline demand intake, purchase order processing, and supplier communication workflows.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $22 to $27 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage site-level demand collection, validation, and materials planning inputs.
- Execute material ordering, purchase order creation, supplier follow-up, and invoicing support.
- Maintain purchasing and materials master data to support accurate order execution.
- Coordinate day-to-day communication between manufacturing sites, suppliers, and internal planning partners.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in supply chain, procurement, materials planning, manufacturing operations, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Power BI.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to transactional accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing or operations environment.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with suppliers, site contacts, and cross-functional internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and ability to escalate issues appropriately.
- Interest in supply chain operations, materials management, and pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP experience.
- Prior internship, co-op, or professional experience in supply chain, procurement, materials management, or manufacturing operations.
- Experience supporting raw materials, GMP consumables, supplier coordination, or regulated manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with transactional buying, purchase order management, supplier performance tracking, or inventory planning.
