Temporary Grc information

What is a temporary GRC?

A Temporary GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) role involves short-term assignments focused on helping organizations manage regulatory compliance, assess risks, and implement governance policies. Temporary GRC professionals may be brought in to assist during audits, regulatory changes, or special projects that require additional expertise. They help ensure that the company is following legal and ethical standards while minimizing risks to the organization. These roles are often filled by consultants or contract professionals with specialized knowledge in compliance frameworks and risk management.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a temporary GRC professional?

To thrive as a Temporary GRC professional, you need a solid understanding of risk management, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements, often supported by a relevant degree or certifications like CISA or CRISC. Familiarity with GRC platforms such as RSA Archer, LogicManager, or MetricStream is typically necessary. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for this position. These competencies ensure that organizations can proactively identify risks, maintain compliance, and protect assets in a dynamic regulatory environment.

What are the main challenges faced by temporary GRC professionals?

Professionals in a Temporary GRC position often face the challenge of quickly adapting to new organizational cultures and processes while ensuring compliance standards are met. Since the role is temporary, there is often a limited timeframe to assess risks, implement controls, and support audits or regulatory requirements. Effective communication and collaboration with various departments are essential, as GRC often involves coordinating with IT, legal, and operations teams. Additionally, staying up-to-date on evolving regulations and industry best practices is crucial for delivering value within a short period.

How to get a temporary GRC job with no experience?

To secure a temporary GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) position with no experience, focus on gaining foundational knowledge through online courses or certifications such as CISA or CRISC. Highlight transferable skills like attention to detail and understanding of regulations, and consider entry-level roles or internships to build relevant experience.

Is temporary GRC still in demand?

Temporary GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) roles remain in demand as organizations seek flexible staffing to manage regulatory requirements, cybersecurity risks, and compliance initiatives. These positions often require knowledge of frameworks like ISO, NIST, or GDPR, and may involve working with compliance tools and audits. The demand is driven by increasing regulatory complexity and cybersecurity concerns across industries.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

The right person should have strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow IRM Pro, specifically around the relationships between risks, issues, controls, control objectives, policies/standards, exceptions, approvals, owners, expiration dates, and reporting. The customer already has ServiceNow platform knowledge available, so this person does not need to be the only technical platform resource in the room. What they do need is deeper IRM/GRC expertise and the ability to translate business risk and compliance requirements into a practical ServiceNow design.

A few things I would add to the profile:

• ServiceNow IRM Pro / GRC architect-level experience, not just general ServiceNow administration

• Post-implementation recovery or reset experience where the tool was implemented but adoption/process did not land

• Ability to assess current-state IRM configuration and recommend a practical crawl/walk/run path

• Strong understanding of risk, issue, exception, policy/standard, and control relationships within IRM

• Experience designing exception workflows, including approval paths, expiration dates, owner assignment, and control linkage

• Ability to help define a minimum viable control structure for exceptions without forcing a full control-library rollout on day one

• Strong facilitation skills with customer risk/compliance leaders

• Ability to create clear deliverables: refined scope, milestone plan, backlog/user stories, workflow recommendations, training/adoption plan, and handoff documentation

• Comfortable working with a customer SME who is IRM/GRC certified and will be heavily involved in validating the approach

• Remote is fine, but the person should be able to come onsite in DC occasionally if needed for key working sessions

Expected duration is probably 8 weeks to start, with possible extension based on what we find during the initial assessment and reset planning.

The main thing: we are not looking for someone who can simply train users on the existing configuration
