Job DescriptionSummaryThe foundry Pattern Maker is a skilled craftsman who creates wooden or other material patterns based on blueprints, meticulously following specifications to ensure the accurate casting of metal parts in a foundry, utilizing various woodworking tools and machinery to shape and assemble the pattern components, ensuring the final product matches the desired design and quality standards. Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, repair and update patterns for metal casting based on engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Utilize carpentry skills to construct pattern components using wood and other materials.
  • Ensure that patterns are accurate, well-structured, and clean for the metal casting process.
  • Collaborate with engineers, and other team members to ensure that patterns meet design requirements and production feasibility.
  • Conduct fittings and make necessary adjustments to patterns to achieve desired casting results in line with customer blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • General housekeeping of pattern shop and organization of pattern storage.
Qualifications:
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a pattern maker and/or carpentry related experience.
  • High school diploma required, associate’s degree in carpentry or related preferred.
  • Strong background in carpentry, with the ability to work with a variety of tools, wood and other materials.
  • Knowledge of metal casting processes and materials preferred.
  • At least proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of relevant industry practices, equipment, and processes.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hearing protection, steel toe metatarsal shoes/boots, & safety glasses must be worn while on the production floor and performing this role.
