PROFILE:

The Fire Alarm InspectionTechnician is responsible for testing fire, security, and sprinkler systems in the Baltimore region.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Test electronic alarm systems consisting of fire, security, access, sprinkler, etc. (i.e., test flow switches, tamper valves, low temp devices, smoke detectors, duct detectors, pull stations, fire doors, heat detectors, annunciators, hi-low air switches, communicators, fire and security alarm control panels, etc.).
  • Generates electronic and paper documentation for the purpose of system certification in a timely, efficient manner. This includes preparing work orders, deficiency reports, check-lists, and certification reports.
  • Operating/maintaining company vehicle.
  • Communicates with ARK team members to effectively pursue company goals of certifying alarm systems according to acceptable standards and practices.
  • Presents themselves in a positive, professional manner and per company policy.
  • Communicates with customer concerning the importance, operation and status of their fire alarm system.
  • Supervises Assistant Tester to ensure proper certification of the sprinkler systems.
  • Customer satisfaction.
  • Performs minor repairs of the above referenced equipment.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience within the fire protection industry.
  • Familiar with various alarm systems, test equipment, communications equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Able to obtain Maryland and Virginia security technician license as required, sponsored by ARK.
  • NICET II in water-based fire protection systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to climb overhead or crawl under spaces to complete jobs
  • Must be willing to work at heights
  • Must be able to operate electrical tools
  • Must be able to differentiate color coding of cables
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at times
