We are looking for a Human Resources (HR) Coordinator to support day-to-day HR operations for a non-profit organization in Alsip, Illinois. This contract position with the potential to become permanent is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing employee records, onboarding activities, and compliance-related documentation. The role will help maintain accurate HR information across the employee lifecycle while providing administrative support to the broader human resources team.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and update employee personnel records in both paper and electronic formats, ensuring information remains accurate, complete, and compliant throughout recruitment, employment changes, and separation.
• Set up new employee files, enter workforce data into the HRIS, and track required documentation for employees, interns, and contract staff.
• Handle employment status updates such as compensation changes, position changes, and terminations while keeping HR records current in all relevant systems.
• Support onboarding by collecting pre-employment documents, verifying I-9 paperwork, and preparing files for new team members before their start date.
• Assist with audit readiness by organizing HR documentation and preparing files needed for internal reviews and external compliance requirements.
• Generate routine HR reports and organizational charts, and help maintain labor law postings and required workplace notices.
• Prepare records for retention, archiving, and storage in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Provide administrative support for performance review tracking, document updates, benefits enrollment preparation, payroll-related mass changes, and backup coverage for the HR clerical team as needed.
The salary range for this position is $24/hr. to $25/hr. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. • Previous experience in human resources coordination, HR administration, or a similar support role.
• Working knowledge of employee onboarding processes, personnel documentation, and coordination of candidate screening processes.
• Familiarity with HR compliance standards, including I-9 verification, recordkeeping practices, and labor notice requirements.
• Experience using HRIS platforms to enter, maintain, and report on employee data; exposure to Paycor is required.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage confidential information accurately and professionally.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort handling both digital and physical filing systems.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with HR team members and internal staff.
