Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking Principal Electronics Communication Engineer or a Sr. Principal Electronics Communication Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be in Melbourne, FL and will be based within our office spaces to support the program and business needs. This position has no Hybrid or Remote work available
**This position may be filled either at the Principal Electronics Communication Engineer OR a Sr. Principal Electronics Communication Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.**
We are seeking a seasoned AEHF Communications Engineer with deep knowledge of Military Satellite Communications (SATCOM), especially Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) systems. The successful candidate will lead specification development, integration, and test strategies for next generation AEHF SATCOM platforms, applying hands on engineering, systems engineering, and trade space analysis expertise.
Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct systems engineering analyses for requirement trades, design/integration trades, and end-to-end performance.
  • Identify, quantify, and communicate major uncertainties, risks, and opportunities in system architectures.
  • Present program uncertainties, mitigation approaches, and recommendations to department leadership and government sponsors.
  • Lead the development, decomposition, and peer review of system requirements.
  • Manage requirements, interface, and architecture change processes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Translate analysis outcomes into actionable guidance for U.S. Government agencies.
  • Chair multi-disciplinary working groups or studies, coordinating across engineering domains and external stakeholders to deliver timely recommendations.
  • Support planning, execution, and reporting of complex trade studies and capability trade analyses.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Principal Communications Electronics Engineer: Must have a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 5 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 3 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 1 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
  • Sr. Principal Communications Electronics Engineer: Must have a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 6 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
  • Must have an Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.
  • Trade Studies: Experience planning, executing, and presenting complex trade studies
  • Systems Engineering: Full life cycle experience: concept, requirements, development, integration, verification

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Leadership in evaluation and testing of complex satellite communication systems.
  • Expertise in capabilities trade analysis, mission analysis, information assurance, and systems integration.
  • Direct experience with Military and/or Commercial SATCOM, specifically AEHF terminals.
  • Experience working with NSA Certifications and processes
  • Experience working with MIL-STD-810 and/or DO-160
  • Customer Focus and Collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
