What are temporary disability benefits?

Temporary disability benefits are payments provided to employees who are unable to work for a limited period due to a non-permanent illness or injury. These benefits help replace a portion of lost wages while the individual recovers and is unable to perform their job duties. The duration, eligibility requirements, and amount of benefits can vary depending on the employer's policy or state law. Typically, temporary disability benefits are available through state disability insurance programs or workers’ compensation if the injury is work-related.
