Job description

Key Responsibilities:


Electrical & Electronic Diagnostics

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical issues, including multiplex wiring, CAN bus communication networks, and sensor failures.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins Insite, Detroit Diesel DDDL, Volvo/Mack Premium Tech Tool, JPro) to read fault codes and analyze live data stream parameters.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and circuit flow charts to pinpoint short circuits, open circuits, and high-resistance faults.
  • Test and repair starter systems, alternators, batteries, and intricate lighting systems.

⚙️ Mechanical Diagnostics & Repair

  • Perform comprehensive mechanical diagnostics on heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, air brake systems, and steering/suspension components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex exhaust aftertreatment systems, including Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), and DEF dosing systems.
  • Conduct internal engine component inspections and perform repairs on fuel injection systems, turbochargers, and cooling systems.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance (PM) inspections and safety checks.

Documentation & Safety

  • Accurately document all diagnostic steps, labor hours, and parts used within the shop management system.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, strictly adhering to OSHA and DOT regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:


Experience & Education

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic, specifically working on semi-trucks (Class 7-8).
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certificate from a diesel technology technical school is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Diagnostic Prowess: Strong proficiency in using digital multimeters (DMM), oscilloscopes, and laptop-based OEM diagnostic software.
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Deep understanding of diesel engine mechanics, pneumatic systems (air brakes), and hydraulic systems.
  • Schematic Literacy: Ability to read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
