Job description

Job Description ProspectBlue has partnered with a company in Richmond, VA and is seeking an experienced Fractional Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller on a temporary full-time basis (approximately 40 hours per week for a six-month engagement). This position will oversee daily accounting operations, review financial transactions, and provide leadership and support to accounting team members. Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting Operations, this individual will work closely with FINRA-licensed Accounting Managers to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of accounting processes.

The successful candidate will possess strong technical accounting knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Help strengthen financial controls, improve process effectiveness, and support the development of accounting personnel. Key Responsibilities Review and approve journal entries prepared by accounting staff before final posting.

Monitor General Ledger activity to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and classified appropriately. Oversee Accounts Payable operations, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, and payment execution. Manage Accounts Receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and cash application activities.

Review Fixed Asset accounting, including asset additions, disposals, depreciation calculations, and account reconciliations. Provide technical accounting guidance and support to staff regarding: Journal entry preparation Account classification and coding Documentation and support requirements Assist with month-end and period-end close activities by ensuring timely review and approval of accounting transactions. Coordinate and manage multiple accounting workflows while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience Required Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the ability to apply accounting principles in day-to-day operations. Experience reviewing accounting work and providing direction, feedback, and coaching to accounting staff

Excellent organizational skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience using Microsoft Dynamics GP.

Previous experience serving as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller. Background working in high-volume, transaction-intensive, or project-driven accounting environments. Additional Details Temporary engagement lasting approximately six months.
