Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations of our growing organization. The Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, overseeing budgeting and forecasting processes, and supporting strategic business decisions.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong financial management skills, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Manage all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements along with tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.- Coordinate annual audits and work with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
  • Monitor company financial performance and provide recommendations to management.
  • Oversee job costing, contract accounting, and project financial reporting as applicable including responsibility for creating documents for and leading monthly cost to complete meetings.
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or management responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and collaborating across departments.
